Drum-beaten feet
Exhaustion chained to my right leg, my body coerced to submit.
Submission pinned down all it's nerves, forcing myself to admit
that the tingling sensation coursing through my veins will calcify my bones
as I walk back and forth waiting, anticipation for nothing while I'm alone.
Tension released when I take a step, defying my body blatantly:
"Regardless what you say to me I won't let you sleep" At times my worst enemy.
Drained, disparaged, despondent, I walk along a thorny sea,
I sigh in admiration gazing at whoever, whatever, is not me.
Trekking along these lonesome steps will take some time,
these steps my feet drum beat along have always been just mine.
